Columbia College celebrates Rose Economou
On November 17, 2011 Rose Economou, a key member of the International Press Club Chicago
who passed away last month, had a celebration of her life at Columbia College
where she was Professor of Journalism. Nancy Day, Chair of the Journalism Department was the
moderator of the event.

The following speakers spoke and praised the life of Rose. Lee Salberg, President of the International
Press Club, Elio Leturia, Associate Professor of Journalism, Shereen Mohammad, Ashley Koehn,
Columbia students, Watt Danz, Columbia student, John Economou, brother of the family,
Louise Love, Vice President, for Academic Affairs and Interim Provost, Randy Albers, Chair, Fiction Writing,
John L. Erdman, Professor of Anthropology, Stan West, Adjunct Faculty, Jo Cates, Associate Vice President
for Academic Research and Dean of the Library.
Also presented was a video tribute, introduced by Bill Kurtis, award- winning journalist and founder of Kurtis Productions. Also in attendance was Wayne Toberman, Vice President of the International Press Club Chicago.
